I have seen this place before… Through a practice of virtual archeology, I dig through images from my past. Past place, past time, past self.
My oscillating identity is built from fragments of others, consuming and morphing pieces of them until they fit inside me. Each piece creating a ghost that is layered into the cocoon of myself, slowly mutating from my authentic self into a doppelgänger who is unrecognizable.
This other self lacks all intimacy with my own being, sparking my hunger to rediscover and return to the scene of my conception in time. I layer these images – these identities, repeatedly to create temporally jagged worlds.
Using these worlds, I secure my selves within those pasts as static daydreams, reinforcing my presence in time and peering through the ghosts that haunt my body, layer by layer.
